Mississippi Stud

Mississippi Stud is a variant of 7 Card Stud. Because of the number of betting rounds it involves, 7 Card Stud is rather unplayable in No limit or Pot limit versions. Mississippi Stud came to correct that problem by eliminating one of the betting rounds.

The first three cards dealt (two hole cards and a face card) are exactly like the first deal in 7 Card Stud, though, following the first round of betting, each player gets two more face cards, unlike in 7 CS, thus the game will be one betting round shorter.

In every other respect the game stays true to 7CS play. It can also be played low or with a Hi-Lo split.
